Where does the row begin?

Where does the row in prayer begin? Does it begin behind the imaam or from the farthest point to the right?

Praise be to Allaah.

The first row in prayer should begin behind the imaam, then stretch to the right and the left, not from the farthest point to the right as mentioned in the question. The same applies to the second and subsequent rows.
